I'm a little confused by the conservative logic the virus is going away after the election

I've had numerous of my conservative acquaintances tell me they are convinced Covid-19 is going away after the election.

Do these people actually believe COVID-19 is a worldwide conspiracy to make them look bad?

Remember the South American caravan that magically disappeared the day after midterm from the news?

They just think democrats are making COVID a huge deal for political gain and our attention would be elsewhere after the election. Of course that is completely false.

But even those who say such things cannot explain what they mean by it in a manner which stands up to the most basic drilling-down, I bet.

The logic is almost simple. The fake news is promoting the virus stories to get Biden a boost at the polls so he's elected, so after the election is over, no matter who wins apparently, the news will drop the virus story and revert to publishing "real" news.

Or something like that.

That’s what their leaders have taught them to believe. So, naturally, once the politics go away, it follows that COVID-19 will go away too.

They are tragically deluded. Viruses are NOT political.

... stop being magnified because (given their belief it is a hoax) both sides will have no interest in magnifying it.

If it is the hoax (flu magnified) they claim, then tRump was always right to downplay it and would continue to do so after winning.

If Biden wins, then (supposing it is the flu magnified), he supposedly won't have to keep up the pretense.

Except it is not a pretense, of course.

The Covid narrative is simply a hoax meant to bring Trump down, and in November if Trump wins it will be dropped because it is no longer useful. Vice versa, if Joe wins.

They don't read news from around the world - the US IS their entire world. So they believe the numbers are a gigantic "lamestream" media - and democratic hype. So - the hype is only needed until Nov 3, and will magically disappear after that.

It's as simple as that.

Actually just like conservative compassion, conservative logic is an oxymoron........

Since Russia probably started this conspiracy theory and considering their horrible stats on COVID-19, I wonder if they propose their outbreak will go away after our election as well.

They're trying to make low-info voters think it is being blown out of proportion or is a media / Democratic hoax. They know it is a major threat but are trying to downplay it so folks don't focus on Trump's mismanagement of the pandemic.
