Defeated Republicans capable of shame will be amusing as they fall over one another in their ardent contentions that they never really supported Trump. Die-hard Trumpers, their militias failing to maintain them in power, will contend until death that the election was "stolen" from them, and enjoy the mother of all pity parties. Eventually they will retreat to the bosom of the lunatic fringe, opposing and obstructing everything that Biden attempts to do as they fantasize and spin out their conspiracy theories. They will regard Trump as a martyr to their cause, and deify him...

Republicans are physiologically incapable of giving up their hate. It’s rooted in a confederate or religious mentality that they are ‘superior’ to others. They believe it is their birthright to dominate, or rule over these others.

To them, it’s an outrage that the government can tax their income to help the ‘inferior’ or force them to alter their behavior to accommodate others - so they’ll say, do, or believe anything that might keep their supremacy alive.

Based on my own experience, the Authoritarian Personality Type develops at a young age.

Anybody who reads the article should understand there is no reasoning with them. They come from the "Might is Right" school of philosophy. If Trump or Putin make it to the top of the heap, whatever they do by definition is okay.

I have a right wing cousin that I used to debate, but had to stop for own sanity. He's very intelligent and works a professional job, but he's got the disease. Case in point...one of his views is that homosexuality is a choice, and agreed with Scalia that gay men could be arrested and sent to prison for having sex in their own home....but yet, his wife put a tracker on their home computer and found he's got a very active "gay life" online. She has a loveless marriage...he locks himself in a room all weekend doing "research" for client cases. I was sworn to secrecy by another family member, so I couldn't throw it up to him - but I bring it up because that self-defeating behavior extends to other areas....military service, drug use, economics, healthcare, etc.
