VA-02: Luria moves from 'Tossup' to 'Lean Democratic'
Democrats are eviscerating former Navy SEAL and Rep. Scott Taylor over ex-campaign staffers' petition forgery scheme to get a third party candidate on the ballot last cycle, including an indictment of a third staffer in September. One suspense-filled Luria ad features a local woman who says Taylor called her and had someone intimidatingly drive by her house after she reported the fraud on Facebook.
Increasingly, this race looks a lot like the 2018 race Luria won 51 percent to 49 percent, except Taylor's negatives are higher and the political environment is even worse for Trump. Trump carried the Virginia Beach-based 2nd CD by three points in 2016 but polls show him trailing Biden here today. Republicans may be on the verge of pulling out of this race in order to prevent more losses on their own turf.
