1. That's COVID-19.

Low blood oxygen and blood clots in the extremities are known symptoms of the disease, as is the swelling you see in McConnell. He’s probably getting injections of Remdesivir and Dexamethasone. That explains the bandages on his hands.

COVID-19 probably won’t kill him. Undoubtedly, he is getting top-of-the-line treatment, but it looks to me like he has it.
