Here's the thing, Ratcliffe, how do threatening notes left on DEMOCRATIC doorsteps 'hurt Trump'?

David Corn @DavidCornDC 22m
If Ratcliffe is talking about the "Proud Boys" emails that aimed to intimidate DEMOCRATIC voters, how does that "damage" Trump?

there is a rushed FBI press conference in foreign entities messing with the election. And Russia is added in. Because they had to.

If you look at it in their fun house mirror, it might look like this:

Threats that were attributed to the Proud Boys may seem to support Trump, but would have the opposite effect by way of association. People would either be incensed by the threats and consider them proof that Trump has got to go, or be frightened that people who support Trump would do that, or both.

In that case it would have been meant to have the opposite effect from what appears to be so.

I think that would be the MO on that take.

It's not as if the emails contradict what they're doing, they reinforce it. And the emails are actually tamer than armed fools at polling sights claiming to 'observe.'

I don’t trust Ratcliffe at all, but what the idea is that by posing as Proud Boys, and threatening Democrats, it would turn people against Trump because they know Trump has been friendly to the Proud Boys. Again, that’s what Ratcliffe is getting at, though of course he is a shameless partisan.

But this adds an additional Dimension to the threat, in writing and in public, that we can all read. Also, the hastily arranged news conference could have been done in order to distract from Obama’s spectacular speech.

Chris Wray was ok, it was Ratcliffe, hyper partisan and inexperienced in Intel who was carrying Donnie’s water. I’m also thinking that the news conference was very quickly and hastily arranged in order to distract from Obama’s spectacular speech today.
