(19,264 posts)TLP does create some amazing ads. Usually I tune out of most political ads even Democratic ads. They are frankly boring and cookie cutter. TLP makes some good ads, ads that are easy to go viral.
I hope someone in some left leaning agency someone is taking good notes.

(105,834 posts)which was more men than women. They've also had ads targeted more at women (you could say this is at parents, but I think it's also partly "Trump is saying these things about you" ): https://lincolnproject.us/video/mirror/

(10,108 posts)I politely disagree. In fact, that's what makes it so perfect....it's completely targeted, by design, toward the macho men types....Riding the horses, fishing with your son, and many other scenes.
TLP put an ad out recently targeted towards woman regarding their daughters...
I think they're spot on....

(8,090 posts)The ad isn't suggesting that at all. It's specifically targeting men - the voting bloc that favors Trump over Biden. Women aren't being attacked, slighted, whatever.

(58,883 posts)as many others in the thread (despite the fact that I was blessed with a wonderful dad.)
But I do get great and sly satisfaction from its perfect pitch at the men who think they are the guardians of American virtues but who nevertheless voted for a racist, sexist imbecile.
The ad is manipulation, but it is perfect manipulation to appeal to that guy.
Genius.

(69,088 posts)This ad is intended for people who believe in patriarchal myths. The message resonates with millions of Americans who usually vote Republican because of those myths. These are the people who voted for Trump because they thought he embodied those myths.
It's a brilliant ad because it speaks directly to what motivates that set of voters.
It's also a very illuminating window into the beliefs of the leaders of the Lincoln Project. These life-long Republican White men supported Trump because he sold himself to them as the embodiment of that patriarchal myth. They're upset that he turned out to be a con. But there's no indication that they are questioning the mythology itself.

You have SO much invested in your belief, decision and action... and it's hard to admit you were wrong.
Then comes much revered, manly man Sam Elliott telling you it's OK to admit your mistake, and how you can fix it! Giving you permission to change your mind!
I think this ad is wonderful! And I think it will help shift some votes.
I love it!

(21,120 posts)Especially if you've been Republican all your life.
Especially if you are religious and your church worships Trump.
This ad was very moving for me. It made me wish my dad had been a dad like Joe. The one I had had a character much like Trump's. I tried to raise my boys to be the total opposite of that and I was fortunate to have succeeded. All three have voted for Biden and the two with children are great fathers.

(51,857 posts)About two months into the Trump presidency, Ron Prestage clutched a shovel and grinned at a photographer on an Iowa cornfield. He had $309 million riding on 160 acres near the town of Eagle Grove, the site of a future pork plant that would help his familys company, Prestage Farms Inc., tap surging U.S. exports.
Just weeks after bulldozers began rolling, though, President Trump came within a pen stroke of upending Mr. Prestages plans, preparing to announce the termination of the North American Free Trade Agreement. Trade battles with Mexico, Canada and China that followed cut into pork-producer profits in a three-year roller-coaster ride that threatened the Prestage familys biggest-ever investment.
Yet Mr. Prestage plans to vote for Mr. Trump as he did in 2016. He and many other farmers say they believe a Biden presidency would bring stricter environmental regulations and higher taxes, among other concerns. Many are in competitive Midwestern states that might tip the election.
A September poll by agricultural publication Farm Futures found 75% of farmers surveyed in July planned to vote for Mr. Trump, compared with 72.6% ahead of the 2016 election.

(2,203 posts)other than the religious part. Dad did not go to church, but his integrity and goodness put most churchgoing people I know to shame. He was the most thoughtful and responsible person I ever knew. I try to live up to his example, but miss the mark sometimes.
Of course he wasn't perfect, but he more than made up for that with the good that he did.
