English translation:
Trump used the password 'maga2020!' (make america great again) and would not have put in extra security. The Dutchman is ethical hacker Victor Gevers, who has already reported many thousands of data breaches and other vulnerabilities on the Internet. It took him seven attempts to guess the password of the American president, he told Free Netherlands.

"I thought 'oh god' when I was logged in," Gevers told RTL Nieuws. "I just don't want to be able to get in, especially with such an important account."

(2,270 posts)Us dummies have standards you know. To lump us in with THAT piece of dog excrement does a disservice to all the dummies in the world. A better term would be idiot or simpleton! We REAL dummies object to being lumped in with that thing.

I would have definitely had some fun with it though.

(25,464 posts)The purpose is to expose a lack of security in an effort to increase awareness. Using that for personal or political gain doesn't fit the purpose.

(146,286 posts)How moronic! Apparently, the President of the United States does not take advice from his computer technicians. That is about the most transparent password I can imagine for Trump. Plus, no two-step verification. Trump's Twitter account was ripe for the hacking.
Probably, our aging President needed a password that was easy for him to remember.

Really fuck up the resetting of the account.
The problem is, no smart American would do that, else they'd get arrested.

The NSA just tracking down one person wouldn't take them long at all, even if jumping multiple proxy servers.

(82,849 posts)Now all those countries that have been enjoying unfettered access to Trump's twitter account, peeking over his digital shoulder at everything he keyed in with his stubby little thumbs, are going to have to take a flyer on the new password. That's going to take a minute, maybe a minute and a half, to guess at.

They usually reply (I almost always get replies, even from some very famous US reporters).

I told the owner it would be easy for me to remember because it's something I say all the time.

(14,012 posts)via tweet and his usual rabble-rousing blather, hacking that account could have led to catastrophe.

(1,832 posts)... which I had not updated since 2001, where it was 3 characters long. My host changed the system, so I had to make it a bit stronger . It protects my email account - same name since 1997. I am really lazy with security, but quite good with backup.
I also had the same password at Hotmail and Google Mail for ten years. When they both made it "impossible" to reuse the same password again and again, I found a way to keep it anyway: Just change it more than 100 times with a macro, and the old one could be used again...
But well, I am not a moronic world leader, who should know better than being this stupid.
