I am dealing with a young (age 24) black female relative in a swing state (Texas) who doesn't want to vote. Won't even register to vote. Won't even try to vote. I mentioned it in January. "It's not a priority."
As far as I'm concerned, if Biden manages to raise the minimum wage, people who didn't vote for him are stuck at $7.25.
I know, I know. No partisan politics, that's not what Biden is about, one America, etc.
I am just pissed. Hopefully, I will calm down by tomorrow.

(6,145 posts)what she cares about other than sewing, wearing cute clothes and weird music. (I am showing my age.)
She has mental health problems and can't afford care, she doesn't make $15/hr, she is uneducated, she wouldn't know how to do a Google search if you paid her. So many of Biden's plans would benefit her.
I am beyond disgusted.
Her parents don't vote either (the one who is deceased was pro-Trump, but he didn't believe in voting, so I let it go). The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

I think applies perfectly to not voting.
Frankly, I would not be in hurry to force someone so apathetic into voting because I would have no confidence in the parameters they used to decide who to vote for.

(6,145 posts)Not minimum wage, but definitely under $15.
I remember another youngster was HAPPY just making $10. North Carolina. I guess the cost of living is less... I guess.
Statistical
(19,264 posts)If someone can't be assed to spend an hour and go vote once every two years knowing that could net them a 50% increase in pay then I don't know what would. You can't fix stupid I guess.

(29,556 posts)If female, say only disgusting incels will want to have anything to do with her. If neither, improvise.
She has asked me to stop "bullying" her about it.
So I have stopped.
Hopefully, at some point, I will stop being pissed off so I can deal with her civilly. Definitely if Biden wins Texas. Absolutely if Hegar wins Texas. Eventually, if Trump wins the nation. Her risk.
She needs me more than I need her.
As I said. I am very, very pissed about this.

(16,352 posts)People always talk about how shocked they are 40 percent of the country is supporting Trump. I agree, its disturbing. But Im just as disturbed by the number of Americans who are just dead inside, have no interest in community or the greater good. Instead its permanent residence in the sunken place. Its sad and frankly a major crisis.

(6,145 posts)She could have registered in January.
I think she doesn't know that you can register without a license.
I think she doesn't care.
