Sorry guys, there are no dems stupid enough to fall for that and vote for Loony Loomer. It would only work with low IQ thug voters.

(34,117 posts)I know quite a few Democrats who use party cards to vote - especially on down-ballot or (non-partisan) judicial races.
So while it's likely that **if** the ballot contains party information for each candidate it won't work. But otherwise - it may well work.

(1,771 posts)I don't think we have a straight dem ticket here. I voted absentee and don't remember. The person would have to be unable to read to vote for loomer with rethug after her name.
Just another stupid, slimy trick I guess

(34,117 posts)And of the 24 positions on the ballot, 13 do not list party affiliation.
Of those 13, I had to look up 7 of them.
So - around here, folks often do look for voter cards (handed out at the polls) if they don't do their research ahead of the time.

(34,139 posts)YOu have to fill in each race. Here in Tallahassee a lot of local races are "non-partisan" which means the candidates do not declare a party and no party affiliation shows next to their names. This means that the voters have to do more research - but the Leon County Democratic Party sends out cards with their recommendations, so that helps.

(34,117 posts)Cards sent out by the party (or handed out at the polling place by a party canvaser) to guide voters on nominally non-partisan races.
If someone was handing the card in the OP out at the polling place, or had mailed it to them in advance of the election and brought it to the polling place, voters who had not done their own research could easily be fooled into voting for a fake democrat in a non-partisan race.

(1,771 posts)As they filled out the paper ballot. At least I hope no one would fall for it!

(34,117 posts)As I indicated, more than half or our races are non-partisan (i.e. no party name listed).

(34,139 posts)Leon County Dems do it but I don't know about other counties and their Democratic Party groups. PBC Dems do list their recommendations on their website: https://www.pbcdemocraticparty.org/campaign-hq
I went through the ones listed on the card I got, but I never take someone else's recommendations at face value. I did use it as a shortcut for the research since I got it two weeks before the Leon County Supervisor of Elections sent out the sample ballots to everyone.
The I made my choices, marked on the ballot page in the sample ballot brochure and took that with me to vote. It made it a lot quicker, so I could clear out for the people waiting in line.
