The Bush 1992 thing was notable mainly because it was at a town hall-style debate. Bush's looking at his watch suggested disrespect or indifference to the ordinary voter questioners.

This is nothing like that. No one cares.

The trivia they choose to elevate to an issue of national importance shortly before an election.

Looking at a watch during a debate or sighing. As if this crap has anything to do with who should be president.

In 2000, gore walked over toward shrub in a move the pundits themselves widely anticipated as a known way to highlight a candidate's height advantage. Shrub was startled and jumped like the scared little beta boy he is, and the media instead decided to express shock that gore would "invade bush's space".

The media sometimes sides with us on this stuff, but mostly it's crap.

It’ll soon shake your windows and rattle your walls

That's the song they used on the president's reelection night on West Wing. In 2012, I saw Obama giving Bob Dylan the lifetime achievement award and they played that song, and I thought to myself "I just heard that recently", and realized it had been while rewatching the episode of West Wing where the president was reelected. I figured that had to be good luck, so I listened to that song a lot in 2012. For the same reasons I'm avoiding it now. I know it's silly to be so superstitious, but I'm such a nervous wreck that I can't help it.
