Winner: Joe Biden. Loser: Donald Trump
Did Trump really think that anyone would give a crap about Rudy's magic mystery meat hard drive?

During the primary and general election, Biden hasnt particularly shined on the debate stage. His answers meander and he mixes up words in ways that take the sting out from attack lines. But tonight, Biden was sharper and more on target allowing his strong qualities, his command over policy and his ability to connect with ordinary Americans, to shine through.
During the first segment about the pandemic, for example, Trump said were learning to live with it. Biden responded with a possibly rehearsed, but nonetheless devastating response he says that were learning to live with it, people are learning to die with it.
He continued needling Trump about his refusal to take responsibility for pandemic policy, provoking the president into the most embarrassing stumble from either candidate in the entire debate: I take full responsibility. Its not my fault that it came here. Its Chinas fault. Its a line that you can bet will be in anti-Trump attack ad in very short order.
Biden was like this for much of the debate, clever and empathetic and even a little feisty.

(43,146 posts)So does the author of that article! You can take the 'sting from attack lines', or the 'sting out from under attack lines', but 'out from' requires a noun qualifier preceding the object. The English language is fractured daily online, even from graduates of good schools, and Tweeters are butchering spelling and punctuation.

(1,242 posts)when learning foreign languages that English is very difficult - if they already learned English, they are ahead in learning most other languages taught in schools. My youngest has a natural knack for purposely misusing common Americanized English to express herself. She is so much fun!
