Beto O'Rourke and Julian Castro fume that Biden has neglected Texas, demand 'crunch time' investment

Dallas Morning News

NASHVILLE — Two of Joe Biden’s top allies in Texas pleaded Thursday for him to pay attention to the state, venting frustration at his lack of investment despite vast resources and signs that Texas is closer than it’s been in decades to slipping from the GOP grip.

“We need some help from the national ticket,” said Beto O’Rourke, the former El Paso congressman who nearly toppled Sen. Ted Cruz two years ago.

“The voters in Texas are doing their part,” he said on a Texas Democratic Party call to preview Thursday night’s presidential debate in Nashville.

Julián Castro, the former Obama housing secretary and San Antonio mayor, echoed the demand.

“My hope is that we will see from the DNC and from the Biden campaign investment in Texas in these last 12 days, because this is it. It’s crunch time. It’s now or never,” he told reporters ahead of the final Biden-Trump showdown.

With how we campaign being limited they'd have to stay focused on where they get the most bang for their buck. Texas would be the cherry on top but pouring too much time and money into something that hasn't flipped in decades might not be productive.

3. Agree with them. If we can get Dems in now, we can show them how much better they'll be

It's a snowball effect like in Virginia.

We should be striking while we can in Texas. This is our year. Plus it's re- districting year - all hands (and money) on deck

in terms of how likely we can win them and it would not be worth it to risk losing those to spend resources on a state which democrats have less history of winning.

But i'm still hoping Biden will go . At the very least maybe it can help the Senate and other down ballot races.

BTW i don't think they are "fuming" . They just feel hopeful about their state and doing their part in encouraging support for getting votes in that state.

It’s too close to call in Texas and MJ Hegar has used her ads over and over for months.
Lately she has surged a bit but it would have helped to have more
of a presence here in Texas.
I guess they spend it all in Fla and Penn.

If Texas is about to turn blue. And if you want Biden to win in Texas maybe you shouldn't criticize him in public, or should you try to be good surrogates in Texas, instead of inviting him to gun nut Texas, should he go to Daley Plaza? Wake me up when you have a Democratic governor or even one Democratic senator, or a democratic Attorney General, or a Democratic Secretary of State

I do get the money (he has enough money that some should go to Texas) but as for time, it would be insane to me that he go to Texas instead of say North Carolina or Florida.
