JUST IN: U.S. sets record with number of new coronavirus cases rising by over 77,000 on Thursday, topping the previous record in July.

Coronavirus case increase sets new U.S. record, rising by over 77K in one day
The record-breaking tally comes in a week when a top CDC official said the agency is seeing a "distressing trend" of coronavirus case numbers "increasing in nearly 75 percent of the country."

Along with some empty promise about having a vaccine by X-mas.

We should not be going through this crap right now but Russia, Trump, and the GOP stole the
White House from Hillary.

If we'd handled it according to the pandemic playbook, the US would be in a similar status as South Korea. There may have been a pandemic, but, we'd be in control of the situation and have a national level surveillance of potential outbreaks. There was even a slight chance of making the virus extinct if decisive action was taken early enough.

Now that the virus has permeated the interior of the country there's little chance of that without major disruptions.

Now if we already had a vaccine that worked on a different coronavirus, sars, then it
should have been easier to make a vaccine for another coronavirus, C-19. But Trump
and the republican killed that work because it was from "the black guy."

77,000 new cases will give us 2,000 deaths at the minimum.

"Now that the virus has permeated the interior of the country there's little chance of that without major disruptions."

Trump's inactions and his rejection of the W.H.O.'s C-19 test kits let the beast out to run all over.

It REALLY pisses me off.

I was aware that starting in Dub's administration (surprisingly, enough) and ramped up considerably during President Obama's administration. The public health experts had convinced the WH and presumably sections of the legislature that a pandemic was not a matter of if, but, when. It would be interesting to know the true extent of these preparations, but, the evidence of the playbook, response teams, and vaccine research show it must have been a large blip on the radar of what daily activity was devoted to it.

Then, under the Orangenstein Monster, it was all dismantled. Probably, mostly due to as you say "the black guy's" participation, but, I'm not going to let the rest of the GrOPper establishment take cover behind his ample behind. I know that starting in at least 2011 the US Government was being slashed and funding was cut to the bone with sequestration. It has only gotten exponentially worse under Moscow Mitch. This was in preparation for the rape of the tax code at the behest of Kochs, the DeVos, and a long list of other 1%-ers. So, they could get it ALL and drown the US in the bathtub. Stated so clearly by Stone, Bannon, Gingrich, and coined by Grover.

Now we're stuck with this nightmare while they safely root it on from their enclaves and yachts.
