If he is on any sort of blood thinners and he fell, landing on his hand and face, that could be the cause. He's almost 80 years old and that is a pretty typical presentation of someone who is elderly who fell. It's total speculation on my part, since I know nothing about his health or medical history. But that's probably what we're looking at here.

He died 20 years ago. The main culprit was late-onset diabetes. He just WOULD NOT mind his doctors, and when one of ‘em wouldn’t “cooperate,” he’d just go find another one.

After awhile of trying to fight with him about it, we just gave up. He and my mom lived separately but never divorced. He had umpteen different ways of finding his way to the local donut place. We tried everything to get him to stay on a diet or just a smarter eating program. No luck. He refused to listen - to the very end.

It’s pretty crappy when all you realistically have left to hope for is a mercifully quick end.

In any event, in MA, the legislature passed a bill requiring a special election back when dukakis ran for president and romney was governor. They turned it back again at a later time but can change it at any time.
