Several days ago I stumbled into an animal burrow and twisted my foot. I was worried I wouldn't be able to hobble to the polling station in time for early voting but my foot and I came to an agreement.
One converse, one slipper, one pain pill, and off I went. Of course it's raining. Good thing I wasn't driving. Hadn't planned on it anyway.
Mask, hand sanitizer, and blue disposable gloves at the ready. I haven't given an inch on precautions. Can't say the same for those around town.
Short line. Maybe 2 people ahead of me. Masks and social distancing required. Only four booths total. Touch screens.
They misspelled Biden's name. BideH instead of BideN. Very red area.
I marked the square by Biden - Harris. Moved on to U.S. Senate and U.S. House, a few local, state races. Several proposed amendments and one initiative. One proposed amendment on abortion. Changing the language of the state constitution to include a "pro-life" (anti-woman) statement that would make for a swift banning of abortion in the state should Roe v. Wade be overturned. I voted "NO", naturally. It will probably pass though. Again, red state regardless of its Democratic Governor.
Hit the "Review" button and discovered on that screen Biden's name was spelled correctly. Kind of odd considering the first screen.
Looked over my ballot.
Hesitated on the submit button. Kind of worried the machine would screw up.
I hit "Submit".
Next screen informed me that my ballot was accepted. Yay!, except...
I really wanted to see a screen that showed my vote was actually counted. A tally of some sort. I'm a former Florida voter and that thought goes through my mind when I vote because of Selection 2000. A paper receipt would have been nice, too.
No "I Voted" stickers due to Ovid 19 and safety precautions. Guess they couldn't figure out a way to safely hand them out to people.
Bummer. I really wanted one after voting absentee for many years while moving around with the military.
The Democratic Party is small in this parish but it does exist.

(38,958 posts)I liked the detachable receipt as well. But, dropping them off at the Board of Elections in St. Louis County worked pretty good for knowing they are where they need to be.

(5,857 posts)Biden was first actually.
I thought placement was supposed to be random.

(90,762 posts)It was a busy day of getting things done.
Biden/Harris first on the ballot. Big blue D to the left of their names.
The rest were incumbent first and then by qualify date.

(5,857 posts)in NOLA, and other than about a 45 minute line it went smoothly and I only saw one person not wearing a mask correctly. Sorry about your ankle.
Yea I missed the I Voted sticker too -- especially since LA usually has really nice ones.

(57,073 posts)Red stickers are shape of state, blue ones are an oval. I love my blue oval!

People couldn't enter the building to vote without a mask but around town a lot of people don't wear them.
