Talking about being 7 months into this pandemic & the numbers are worse than any time since the pandemic began while tRump is holding maskless rallies all over the country, red state govs pretending everythings alright. Also, talking about the many dirty tricks desperate tRump and repukes are pulling as they know their time is running out. I can't remember when I've been this mad. Its going to be a long 11 days.

(4,845 posts)I haven't been so angry in a very long time.
I think it had to do with her staying on the infection chart and explaining that we never flatten the curve. We stop the exponential growth and settle down. But we stay at a high level. So when the next wave comes, we start at a higher level, thus the next peak is much higher than the last one.

(4,845 posts)If Trump somehow get re-elected, I am sure I will leave the US. Luckily, there is a new way I can get out in the last couple of days. So I have a good backup to fall on.

(4,845 posts)I immigrated here when I was 14. It wasn't fun. Adopting to a new culture is hard, and it's harder now that I am older. And I have to worry about a new career as my profession only applies in the US. But I don't think I can take another 4 years of Trump. Plus, it will take me 5 years to get citizenship there so I can re-evaluate after I am done with citizenship there.
Good news is. Biden is in good shape and we should win. I still believe there are more reasonable Americans than the crazies. I truly hope I won't have to use that last resort.

(1,425 posts)My husband has a first cousin who lives in New Zealand, and we are fortunate enough to meet the income requirement to emigrate. Yet, I don't want to leave south Texas. I moved here in Dec. 1979 and I decided within 6 months that I never wanted to leave. I'm 66 and I feel like the rest of my life hangs in the balance of the outcome of this election. On one side, I'm seeing historic levels of voter turnout in TX and many other states that should mean there is a blue tsunami coming. However, I am still haunted by the results of the 2016 election.
I just want the election to be over. Win or lose, I feel like the rest of my life hinges upon the results.

(61,694 posts)It's infuriating. I'm glad my parents have been gone awhile, and I don't have to worry about them, too.

(63,840 posts)relatives who fought so hard for us would be so distraught to see what this country has become.
I'm glad my parents are not here to see this horrible decay of our country. We got to get our country back.

(61,694 posts)the nation or the greater good. People like trump only consider, "what's in it for me?"
Our morality is in deep trouble, and I'm not talking about sex or drugs. I'm referring to the lack of motivation to advance humanity and humanitarianism.

(22,478 posts)the bars is a big contributing factor but around me if you go into a store you wear a mask; except in the gas stations.
So what is it? Bars, churches and Trump rallies? Sounds about right.

(8,168 posts)The only possible positive from it is the shock to the people and markets will likely damage his reelection odds. His campaigning/need for praise may end up being his downfall.

(8,040 posts)........................... And he's doing the rallies for his own ego (as we all know)! The ONLY ones going to those events are already lunatics who are members of his cult! He's doing it so "his fans" can cheer for him and idolize him - like 1930's and 1940's Germans did during the days of Hitler. It's the most disgusting display of egomania and of fellow citizens being out of their minds that I've ever seen (irl). God help us all......

(8,020 posts)I do still listen on the bands with my Yaesu VR-500 which is the only HF capable radio I have at the moment (have an old Alinco HT also). Was quite active from the 70's through the 90's, started as a novice & just a plain ol General now.
