What a great feeling! Dropped it in the ballot drop box Wednesday morning. And it's traceable.
WA voting is so easy! Wish all states did the same.
Go Joe and Kamala!

(1,035 posts)We are in Whatcom county and we filled out and dropped boxed ours immediately. They showed up as accepted on the 19th and have remained that way since. I understand that it is possible the ones returned by mail go to status "Received". We tracked using www.votewa.gov. Are you using the same tracking website?

Obviously, that wouldn't work for you. Perhaps you have a similar website in Whatcom?

(1,035 posts)But I think I was linked to the website I cited by the Whatcom county site but I'll check.

I'd not be surprised if 'received' isn't the equivalent of accepted but hard to know if the site doesn't spell out the 'progression'.

People who are getting complete status messages seem to be those whose county is providing it. Whatcom provides a youtube feed if you want to watch them work but, so far, I have been unable to find a Whatcom site that tells me they are finished (have counted) my vote. Since the process involves comparing signatures (which I take to be Accepted or not), and the ballot itself is removed and scanned into the computer and counted. If a problem arises, a human determines the intent of the vote in question (or tries to). However, I don't see anything that tells me how you know if it made it through this process. That is why I asked people who received completed process reports. I thought it curious that I was getting only "Accepted" and others were not getting "Accepted" but were getting several reports starting with "Received". I hope this makes sense.

(23,367 posts)Facilitating voting should be a priority.
Early voting.
Remote voting.
Verification of acceptance of ballot.
Ease of resolution of any error hindering ballot acceptance.
Ease of voter registration.
All associated paperwork should be very simple. Optimally, the need to rely on moving paper from one point to another should be securely overcome - it's so antiquated.
