In the color TV episodes, there was a black visitor.
Other than that, none.
And, that character didn't live there.
But, there were few in any 60s TV. That's why Julia and the Uhura characters were groundbreaking.
I don't think it became common until the 70s.
Even then, Barletta's buddy was a pimp with a good heart. If such a thing is possible.
I think Ron Glass as Harris (on Barney Miller) was the first black cop on TV that was a weekly character. I was in college when that show was on TV.

... with Star Trek and Julia were big big time for children - I was one of them, I Spy being the biggest for me. If Bill Cosby hadn't turned out to be a sexual predator freak, he would've been a hero twice - the Huxtables were a very big deal in the 80's.

Shouldn't have. My dad loved that show.
CW3 was a reformed criminal. Not the most flattering image. I'll pass on that one.
I don't even remember NYPD. My parents must not have watched it.
In 1967, we just had one TV.

I had never seen that.
Probably was running against something my parents really liked.
They weren't the type to "protect" my child eyes. Nothing on TV was that graphic in those days.
They were probably watching a different show.
In '67, I was 10 & 11, so I watched what mom & dad wanted to watch. Or I read, went in the basement to play piano, or with my chemistry set. Mostly I watched TV with them. My sister was an infant, so TV wasn't yet a thing for her.
