If GA doesn't turn blue and Biden doesn't win this time I'm out and never coming back. Going to move to a solid blue state, or as much as possible. Things have been teeter-tottering here for a while, but I just can't stand to see me living my future here at only 25 years old right now. Anybody else living in red states feel the same way?

(9,953 posts)pills for me. Lol. They got me thru until I got to a blue state and haven't wanted them since. I never "needed" them but did make life easier.

(8,090 posts)But there are MAGATs in Delaware just like there are flaming libruls and Democrats in Ohio. I guess I just really want to see Georgia go blue (or at least a blue-ish purple) and crush assholes like David Perdue and Brian Kemp. We need more Democrats to pour into the state, not leave it.

Still volunteering for Ohio though. Doing Ohio Voter Protection hotline most days through the election.

(12,213 posts)But you can be fired for being lgbt in Ohio. Also Kasuck did try to steal pensions not long ago, so spare me the doubt. It can happen. Just look at what drump is doing to federal civil service.

(32,640 posts)Women and girls have died, for a fact, without access to safe, legal, affordable abortion, since Roe.
That's not an 'if.'
If you can be fired for being Gay, or refused access to your partner's health care plan, what resources do you have to 'fight?'
What if you're a POC that has a very good chance being killed, unarmed, by a police officer who will NOT be held accountable under a Trump administration, but emboldened?
That's some privilege to say that there's no real danger to one's life if one stays in a red state.
If you're not a white, straight cis male, you understand the danger very clearly. Generally - there are exceptions.

(10,435 posts)I'm just too old and established with work to leave until (if) I get to retire. Then I'm out of red state hell.
I will say, being in a blue city does make it more tolerable. But work takes me out into the country, and to places like Wichita and OKC.
I do wish I'd gotten out of the midwest when I was your age. Back then I hadn't traveled much, and really didn't know there was a difference. By the time I figured it out, it was too late. So I'd say if you're free to move now, do it and get established somewhere that you want to be. No matter who wins.

(9,471 posts)I live in Arizona, which is purple at this time. If Biden doesn't win and if my life circumstances were different, I would seriously be considering leaving the country. Another four years of trump and our country will never be able to bounce back in my lifetime. However, I won't leave because of my adult children and my little grandson.

(9,953 posts)But I am here to stay, so ya'll just need to embrace me, . I have met my clan here, no complaints. I love the people, they feel so good. It is funny, I was told when I first got to Eugene, join everything so I could be better accepted in the area. Lots of outsiders here.

(16 posts)Besides the Atlanta metro area the majority of the state is just covered with slobbering zombie-like trumpers!!! There are more Trump signs and flags than you could ever imagine, by the time I make the 45-minute drive to work I'm ready for another anxiety pill...

(10,885 posts)Really, I offer my sympathies. Your youth and energy can go far to nudge GA along it's way to turning blue, and your efforts will be appreciated.
Those of us in blue states are doing our part to help the rest of the country by donating and campaigning for Dem candidates in their effort to flip their red states. We're working for you; please help by working for us!
If all else fails, Rhode Island is lovely this time of year, and is as blue as can be. Always room for one more, but you'll be of more use to stay where you are and encourage your friends and neighbors to Vote Blue!
Welcome to DU!

But then again, bring knowledge to those who are need of some enlightenment in your state.

I would think that the inverse could be found in Georgia?

(41,197 posts)in states that were once semi Blue, then went Red and they can't get out now because of jobs, family ties, age and other factors.
With the many obstacles rising now, it's smart to relocate to a Blue state while you can.
When I was a bit younger than you, I left a fairly Blue state to go to college. By the early 90s that state declined economically and went blood Red.
Thank god I went to a Blue city and area, I can't imagine if I'd stayed back there although I'm grateful to have grown up in that area while it was progressive.

(100,132 posts)But I have noticed quite a few Biden signs popping up on my daily walks - some right next to houses with Trump signs! The tides are definitely turning! Which is quite a turn around because in 2016 there were almost no Hillary signs in my area!
