Hi XXXX, I'm Stephen King.
You probably know me as the horror writer behind novels like Carrie, IT, and The Shining.
Since I write horror novels for a living, I feel I have some authority when I say whats happening in Washington right now is an absolute nightmare.
Mitch McConnell and all his spineless Senate Republicans let Trump get away with whatever he wants.
Susan Collins is one of them and as a Mainer myself, Im sick of it. So Im doing everything I can to help Democrat Sara Gideon defeat her this November.
To that end, Im reaching out to ask you to make a donation to Saras campaign. This is really important.
So chip in now, even if its just a couple bucks. I know Sara could really use your help in this final stretch before election day.
Ive been very vocal for a long time about needing to replace Senator Collins. Because every chance she gets, Senator Collins proves she cares more about what Mitch McConnell wants than what Mainers need here at home.
Thats why its so important that we replace her with a real leader like Sara Gideon, who is willing to put Mainers first.
We need Sara Gideon in the Senate. Period.
I hope you'll chip in to help make it happen.
Thanks for reading,
Stephen King

(153,209 posts)although I have a love/hate relationship with his books - I read books to fall asleep which is not easy to do when your eyes are wide open with a sense of horror :O

(10,885 posts)This is really his time of year - he loves Halloween!
My youngest son attended college in Bangor, Maine, not far from SK's home. Each year at Halloween, King and his wife, Tabitha, would have the most wonderful Halloween surprises for the Trick or Treaters. It was basically an open party. His home is just as he is!
I did, however, come across this tidbit about the current state of Halloween at the King's:
A great time had by all, but success sadly brought about its demise.

I understand and share your love/hate with his books. They're definitely not bedtime reading. Hmmm - might be time to re-read my favorite, Gerald's Game.

(6,645 posts)my husband thought I was weird when he first saw me reading Stephen King. Then he saw Shawshank Redemption and Green Mile. Stephen King is not scary to some of us, we know things will always work out.
