Here is a text I got:
Hi, I'm a Democratic volunteer with APP PAC. During a recent Town Hall, Joe Biden endorsed giving 8 and 10 year olds sex change treatments. This is way too extreme for me. I can't support him. Watch the video. Reply STOP to opt-out.
Included in this text message was a video .
I looked up APP PAC . Could not find it. I did a reverse phone search on the number ..., number could not be found.
I called the text number not a working number
So, pissed, I called my phone provider , reporting it as spam. They also looked for the number. Not a phone number.
I assume its troll activity. Can they be this desperate? Grrrrr.

(5,168 posts)I always delete them without looking at them. All calls from #s I don't recognize are plugged into my browser, and deleted if they don't come from an identifiable source with a reason to contact me.

(6,544 posts)They used a number of GOP tropes and language to try to get me to donate money (I listened instead of hanging up out of amusement, it was really obvious). I have no doubt they would have re-directed me to a phony donation site. Obviously not dumb enough to do that, but I wonder how many they fooled.
Yes, resorting to virtually stright up theft- utter desperation.

(9,475 posts)Luckily, I am able to report as spam from my text message interface.
It was a phone number from Oklahoma ((405) 544-4152) trying to tell me how Democrats were "ruining" Dakota Co, MN.
You would think they would at least use a phone number from MN.
