That happened in 1876 when Rutherford B Hayes was elected.
With numbers like that, it is easy to get the crap we have elected.
I have always said if we could get every Voter to vote, the Republican Party would be gone.
Hope 2020 beats that record but not the aftermath. The election was not decided until March the following year.

(7,394 posts)which represented a small percentage of the population. I want to see a high turnout, but we can't compare to something like that. I hope we can hit 70+%, and yes, we need to get rid of apathy.

Oregon, for instances, regularly has over 80% turnout during Presidential years.
