We could have voted as early as ten days ago, but each time we went by the countys sole early-voting location the line was long, and we decided to try again later. Today, we were determined, and we got it done.
Our county has about 55,000 residents. Its comparatively cold and rainy today, so we figured that the line would be short. It was, comparatively. When we lined up, there were only about 40 people ahead of us. Social distancing was not observed in the line. Roughly 50% of the people in line were wearing masks. Social distancing was required inside the actual polling location. Mask use was not enforced. The whole process took 40 minutes.
Thats all I have to report, but it feels good to have registered two more votes for Biden/Harris.

(32,017 posts)I dare not hope (too much), but Biden/Harris CAN carry TX if the votes keep coming in, and what we have seen so far is unprecedented.

(22,114 posts)us are indeed sick and tired of the chaos, the BS, etc. Voting despite the CV is at record levels. trump and all things trump are getting the boom delivered upon them big time. Republicans and all of their tricks to steal our votes or make them worthless are failing miserably.
Congrats and thank you!!!

(25,305 posts)It took 12 minutes.
I went to a large quiet vote center. My suburban center had a long line, so I drove in town in search of a spot. I arrived at 3:48 and it took 12 minutes. As I left a long line was forming outside. It seems time of day is a factor!

(33,956 posts)Small county. I was the only one there at the time but they said there were 102 that day.
Two young ladies about 18-19 were going in as I was leaving.

(32,017 posts)Daughter and I are in Van Zandt. Never expected to see lines (at all) for early voting, but we have them this year. Strange.

(39 posts)Also strange in VZ County is the lack of Trump/Republican signs at the early voting location.

(32,017 posts)Or, so I thought. Many here make their living off of trade days, and theres no incentive to rock the boat by announcing ones political affiliation. Thus, I hardly saw any political signs in this county before a couple of weeks ago. Then the Biden signs started to appear, and there are a lot of them nowfive or six directly across from our early-voting location, and plenty of them along the major thoroughfares. There are few, if any, Trump signs in this VERY red county.
Dont get me wrong. This is a red county. Theres no way that Biden/Harris will win a majority of the countys vote, but the turnout has been unprecedented. A large number of Biden/Harris voters are out and proud in this county. Turnout throughout Texas has been inordinately high. If only 40% of Van Zandt county votes for Biden, Biden will win this state.
