Joy Reid graphic just now

It showed 57% of early voters in Texas are Republican, while only 34% are Democrats. I'm not sure where they got that info. Doesn't sound legit, which makes Joy look careless in putting it up.

1. What Texas has going for it is a lot of people and young people that never voted, voting now.

12. Wow. I thought it'd be the majority of votes.

Thankfully President Biden doesn’t need Texas. Still great if we can take the state houses and more House of Representatives seats.

16. TX doesn't allow no excuse main in voting.

Which is why it doesn't have a huge number of mail in votes.

19. Which discriminates against people who can't get off work,

don't have transportation, don't have child care, which are mainly poor black and brown voters. It's obscene.

4. What was the source?

I'm sure Reid will use good sources, but that's depressing.

8. I'm not sure they fact checked that

because I saw the same graphic from a fake twitter account yesterday.

Texas doesn't register by party, so there would be no way to know that Republicans are leading.

We don't need more depressing information tonight.

13. It's TargetSmart, and it's a complete estimation.

Reid does a disservice when she reports numbers without context.

This is what they said:

Turnout in Texas is huge. So far nearly 6.2 million Texans have cast a ballot, compared to 2.1 million at this time in 2016. This is good news for Joe Biden and Democrats despite the fact that based on modeled party Dems trail by roughly 12%. There’s a simple reason for this: the model looks at generic partisanship, not candidate support.

7. I'd like to know the source

Texas doesn’t record the ballots cast by party like Other states do.

11. Joy Reid is in over her head sometimes. She's using TargetSmart. And this is what they say...

Not to be rude, but there's some things she should stay away from because she clearly doesn't get it.

14. Texas is one of the states that doesn't report party registration statistics...

...when it comes to early voting, so, there is no way they know this.

15. Texas does not provide party breakdown of the vote at all

So it is just guesswork.

18. No, actually I didn't know that.

It sounded completely ridiculous which is why I was wondering why Joy Reid actually put up that graphic on her show.

20. I voted today in Texas

NO ONE ask my party! You have to vote in either Dem or Rep primary...and a lot of people vote in republican primary to vote for local positions
