Democrats in the state had asked the court to allow the counting of ballots that arrive up to six days after Election Day if they were postmarked by November 3.
The ruling was 5-3, coming just before the Senate voted to add Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.
Justice Elena Kagan, joined by her liberal colleagues, Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Stephen Breyer, dissented from the court's order.

(3,921 posts)Luckily when they tried this in the primaries (forced people into the pandemic) it backfired on them and the liberal state supreme court justice won easily.
Biden is up enough in Wisconsin, if polls are correct, and this move likely will motivate our side even more to stick it to the RW.

(34,857 posts)Please leave the disinformation to the Republicans.
Currently, 61% of ballots requested have been returned - over a million.
Including 60% in Milwaukee County alone (about 173,275 so far) and 70% for Dane County (Madison).
In fact, a lot of Democratic counties (won by Hillary in 2016) have returned their ballots at a higher rate than GOP counties.

There are a number of drop boxes in counties. Use them like you are stuffing a GOPer.

(80,087 posts)For important reasons, most States, including Wisconsin, require absentee ballots to be received by election day, not just mailed by election day, Kavanaugh writes. Those States want to avoid the chaos and suspicions of impropriety that can ensue if thousands of absentee ballots flow in after election day and potentially flip the results of an election. And those States also want to be able to definitively announce the results of the election on election night, or as soon as possible thereafter. Moreover, particularly in a Presidential election, counting all the votes quickly can help the State promptly resolve any disputes, address any need for recounts, and begin the process of canvassing and certifying the election results in an expeditious manner.
