Hillary Rodham Clinton
Amy Klobuchar
Merrick Garland

(10,599 posts)The others are great, but Clinton would generate loads of controversy obviously.

I have no faith in the 'young progressives' I've seen so far.
Photo ops & a couple years in Congress doesn't earn a seat on our SC.
There are others far more qualified in Constitutional Law.

(1,102 posts)I like those four .... but we should appoint 6.
I'd add Stacy Abrams and Eric Swalwell.

You list of 4 is spot on. My choice as well if there's ever a chance of righting a good 6 years of wrongs.

(1,406 posts)Merrick should be the first pick. If he gets two, I would like to see Myra Wiley on the SCOTUS or Chuck Rosenberg.

(2,560 posts)She wouldn't be there long enough. I like the other ones, but instead of Hillary find someone comparable who's about 40. Somebody in this thread said Barack Obama might not be interested; in that case, how about Michelle Obama?
Also, I wish we would not call it court packing. That's what the Republicons in the Senate and the White House have been doing for the past four years. What we would be doing is restoring balance to the courts. Not just the Supreme Court, but other federal courts too, something needs to be done to restore balance to them.

Garland is also too moderate, he was only picked as President Obama thought he could get him past the Rethug Senate. The last thing we need is a justice who may hop on board with the RWers on occasion in big big cases.
Even Obama (60yo next summer) and Klobuchar (61yo in spring) are pushing the age limit we need to looking at, but I would be fine with Obama as one of the four. Even if Klobuchar was 40 or 45yo, I will pass. We have better candidates out there than her. Her racial justice issues from her time as the Hennepin County Attorney will not play well. It was a big reason she withdrew from VP consideration.

I like Amy Berman Jackson but she's too old as well.
