It's going do be a horrendous 2021 in terms of Supreme Court decisions

I fully expect to lose every big one by 6-3 or 5-4. I don’t know what cases the Court will take up next year, but I hope they are minimal and not hot-button issues.

Immigration

Voting rights

The affordable Care act

Property rights

The federal housing financing agency

Whether a unanimous vote is required to convict

I'm heartbroken and like Hillary said oh, I've been sick to my stomach, literally.

If Biden wins and gets a Senate majority which is willing to reform the judiciary right away, there could be half a dozen new justices by summer....

How much pain, suffering, angst, and death amongst the public are Democrats in the Senate willing to sacrifice in order to appear more norm-respecting than the utterly norm-, rule-, and law-ignoring Repukes, and why would they do that, huh?

is going to be felt wayyyyyy beyond 2021. With a 6-3 majority, with both the frat boi and the handmaiden being quite young, the ultra-conservative rulings from this group can go on for a decade+.

If the Court is not expanded, it will be many years before a liberal decision comes down.

for the time being until a new Justice is selected/installed. A new Liberal judge, at best, would bring it to a 5-4 Court, with Conservatives still in charge. You'd still need two more Conservatives to leave and be replaced with Liberals before rulings would swing in a Liberal direction...which could take years and years.

Roberts leaving is a start, but a small one.

Expanding the Court to 13 by adding four Justices under a Democratic president would shift the balance immediately to become a 7-6 Liberal Court.

He did cast a vote for gay rights this term. Who knows, he might even be pro-Roe. But one step at a time, 5-4 is better than 6-3. Plus we'd get our own Chief Justice.
