The question is, does the Governor or whomever made the change have the emergency authority to change the law? I haven't seen anything addressing emergency powers or even if they were used or if they were justified by the situation.

I'm sorry, other than BeerBro's inane concurrence, the decision was probably correct.

...And it looks like the band is back together!!!

John Roberts, Kavanaugh AND Amy Coathanger Barrett were all part of the bush* legal team that helped steal the 2000 election and the Presidency from Al Gore.

... for the electorate's hearts and minds, so they have just decided to STEAL. THE. JUDICIARY.

The rich, old, WHITE, conservative MALE consortium has, in effect, purchased themselves the SCOTUS.

In Oregon, postmark is irrelevant. The ballot must be in the local election office by 8PM on Election Day. You have to use one of the official drop boxes or use USPS at least a week in advance.

Familiarize yourself with the laws of your state. In elections past, the Oregon media have advised voters to get their ballots in the mail by the Thursday before the election; this year, they're saying get it in the mail TODAY, two days earlier. Check your state's laws and make sure you follow the rules, no matter how arcane. If you go to a polling place, make 100% sure you have the required identification. If your ballot has to be witnessed, get that signature. Whatever it takes.

Nothing we can do about it for 2020 but try to fight challenges in every state it comes up but hopefully for 2022 we do what Oregon does. Send the ballots out WAY ahead of time and they are due on Election day when the polls close. Advise people to mail them in no later than 10 days before the election or drop them off in a dropoff box.

We should expect the GOP to always play voter suppression games. Extensions to deadlines after election day is just giving them an easy target.

so Kavanaugh can explain, in great detail, WHY the IRS can accept the postmark date as a sign of meeting a deadline, but the Boards of Election CAN'T.

Since he can't, but will still insist on it, then impeach him on being a political sock puppet for Vladimir Putin. Because if he takes his orders from the turd, he is REALLY taking them from Putin.

In Michigan, the law is that the ballot must be in the custody of the election officials no later then 8 p.m. on the day of the election.
