(65,160 posts)That propaganda is easily proven false from everyone's personal experience.
But, that propaganda has left a 20 year hangover.
I know a guy who has had the EXACT same job for 30 years.
He tells me he's never made this much money, since PINO took office. Then he tells me what he made when Obama was elected, and in 2000.
3.3% per year. He didn't even bother to mentally adjust, even estimate, for inflation!
Tax cuts good. Trump does tax cuts. 3 years he makes more than he ever has. Trump is great, tax cuts work. But, the tax cuts had NOTHING to do with it.
Quite the hangover.

(12,712 posts)Perception is largely what matters. A confidence man plays on that primarily, no? People rely on their perception of a situation and that can override reason if it is a repeated image that is conveyed.
Substance? Not so much. It takes people who are able to connect the dots to realize the scam. Some people are too distracted to do that and some simply lack the capacity for it.
Also, years of indoctrination by the inundation of "consumers" with overwhelming amounts of advertising designed by very savvy advertising agencies creates a form of Simulation that takes advantage of psychological factors and "trance" states. For instance, the simple act of watching television induces alpha waves.

(4,443 posts)It's mostly stock buybacks by corporations artificially keeping their share value up and it's also being propped up by the goverment to fool people. The economy sucks for 90% of us.

(2,331 posts)People believe the character that was created for reality TV. Despite all subsequent evidence he is a shitty businessman that show's mythology still lives on.
