And, as it avoids conflict/drama-for-ratings, that's another big plus for me.

(38,958 posts)I watch DW, BBC, NHK, France 24 News along with the PBS Newshour on our local PBS Station. No one pontificating, no hours of endless opinions by talking heads. It is so very refreshing and peaceful.

(13,924 posts)I usually donate when they have a match grant. What ever you donate a good soul matches your donation so it is double what you put in. Also if you get a "gift" that reduces the amount to PBS. So if you donate $100 and get a $25 tee shirt your donation is only $75 to PBS..I just donate with no gift. What I really hate is the what I call is the "beg-a-thons" pledge drives. I've already donated but I keep getting the begging for money routine. So I just call up a Public radio station on my phone. Then go back to my regular station when the begging is done. YMMV works for me.

(16,315 posts)I get World, Encore, the kids channel n PBS from our local affiliate. Today I watched a documentary on Reconstruction. There are great concerts on Encore n I like that if Im gonna spend my time on tv, I always learn something. Frontline is on tonight..thats where Ill be.
