Harris County has now exceeded total turnout for the 2012 election, which was 1.2 million.

Holy Moly

That is incredible..........and still 3 days to go for early voting. I think she means 2016 though.

They tried to stop people voting by putting one drop box but the voters literally showed them

The most famous and populous “Harris” County in the USA is the one in Texas that includes Houston. I don’t that there is any other that can ring up 1.2 million early votes, hell, I doubt that there is another one that even has 400,00 people living in it total.

7. Yes, but do most people know the names of the counties in most metro areas?

And the seal is in the tweet, not in the post itself - many DUers aren't on Twitter, and I am but often I can't see tweets linked here, especially when viewing DU on my phone.

Isn't it easier to just put TEXAS in one's OP, ideally the subject line?

GO HARRIS COUNTY TX VOTERS!

We are arguing an aside. You are right, when people mention geographical names, they should provide full details that let people know the location.

So unlike TX, we can't put up huge early in person voting numbers. But we did have a lot of mail in absentee ballots this election.

Drop box is for mail in ballots. TX doesn't allow no excuse mail in voting, so in TX the number of mail in ballots is less than in states that allow anyone who wants to vote absentee.
But they have a lot of early in person voting locations, enabling a lot of people to vote early.
