The repubs supposedly have this large # of voters who are waiting to vote next Tuesday.
What if instead of all these last minute voters they supposedly hold in reserve, the polls are relatively quiet on Election Day?
There would be no way for him to overcome the majority of Democratic votes that were Early Votes or Mail In Votes.
Much better to have a lead in the bag early on, than have to hope for a big comeback at the last minute.

(1,602 posts)Not surprisingly, given his personality, but he's a bad gambler - he tends to make big bets that may not be that immediately consequential when things go right, but are devastating when things are going wrong.
Trump's gamble was that conservatives would vote overwhelmingly on Election Day, and so he has done everything he can to limit the race only to those voting on election day. However, that gamble can go wrong in so many ways, and the confusion that he's sown among his own supporters may very well lead them to not even try. I've suspected this will turn out badly for a while.
