Its common knowledge that dogs wag their tails when theyre happy and tuck them in when theyre anxious. Some body language, however, is a little less clear. Like have you ever wondered what it really means when they put their paw on you? Turns out, it could be a sign of affection that translates into the three words that we long to hear: I love you.

(63,221 posts)I have had my siblings dogs do this to me many times when I am petting them. I just love them so much. They are all so sweet and affectionate. I miss them.

(31,395 posts)on my hand or forearm. In the summer they sometimes use my foot or lower leg (I guess any paw will do?) When I noticed they prefer skin, I also noticed they sometimes prefer it with each other as well, often laying with their paw pads touching each other.
it's very sweet.

(12,046 posts)She loves ramming her nose against mine in the bed when its time to get up. I'm frequently amazed at the tremendous amount of force an 8 pound animal can leverage through its little cold nose! 6 AM time for treats!

(42,674 posts)My 13 month old German Sheperd has be careful what she does with her body, as she is becoming huge, and shes just barely an adolescent. She is so funny though.
Hitting me with her paw is my little mutts ( border collie, chihuahua, and terrier of some sort) favorite form of communication. Shes my old lady. I love her a lot
