I think I'm getting fake political text messages

As are most, I’m inundated with political text messages nowadays. Most come from an obvious source, but lately I’ve had a couple that read something like this:

John, donate now to defeat socialism!! 8x match!!!

Followed by a cryptic link.

Aside from wondering who John is, I’m noticing that these texts don’t mention an organization or candidate. I think the scammers have discovered political ads

People "abandoning" Joe.
Multiple matching donations for Joe and tRump
and Pleas for Jamie.
Phishing for email addresses and "donations"

[Wellstone ruled]

3. Had the same some two three weeks ago.

Whom is behind it is spoofing using various numbers. Chased it back to Verizon and it was a Boiler Room operation that they were investigating.
