So I was at Harris Teeter today and worked my way to the cereal aisle expecting to find my favorite cereal: Count Chocula. Now this cereal is hard to find most of the time (and I will eat it any time of year), but it is a staple of supermarkets around Halloween. To my horror, my favorite vampire was a ghost!
You might say, hey, why not just get Cocoa Pebbles instead? That statement is uglier and more tone deaf than Miley Cyrus. I may settle for Boo Berry or Franken Berry, but right now it has to be a goddamn General Mills monster cereal in my bowl. None were available.
Is that too much to ask? When will all this end??
I went into full Karen mode and demanded to speak to the store manager. OK that part is bogus, but the rest is true.

(7,409 posts)I haven't connected all the dots, but he is the President and there is no Count Chocula.
It's all connected, I'm sure of it (in a Fox News kind of way).

(4,602 posts)I only know this because the Lucky Charms I bought last week came with toy! A little Cinnamon Toast Crunch guy figurine. Collect All Six Mascots!
Couldnt figure out who the heck the squirrel was. The burglar was much better, imho.

(1,048 posts)I don't even remember that CC had a mascot. I'm probably a bit older than you.

(4,602 posts)But ...it was placed between the box and the bag, so not having to dig my arm down into the cereal was a bit of a disappointment.

Just go to another grocery store. Where I live we have Gerbes, Schnucks, Hy-Vee, several others. I'll bet they're not ALL out of Count Chocula.

Im sure there was a conspiracy regarding that. I loved Quisp.
Anyone else remember it?

(7,409 posts)It was, well, like Cap'n Crunch. But it had 80's arcade graphics on the box.

(64,971 posts)It was great, right out of the box, for a snack.
I had the advantage of having a sister 11 years younger than me. So, my mom was still buying kid cereals.
I influenced my sister at around age 4 into liking Quisp. She actually did like it, so win-win!

(537 posts)That manufacturers were eliminating products from their lines to accomodate the "new" shopping habits. I guess theyve closed down certain lines to ramp up production on other items. I'm hoping your cereal is not one of the discontinued
Shermann
(7,409 posts)Why not eliminate a crappy cereal like Grape Nuts? Doesn't have grapes, doesn't have nuts. Get rid of it.
The Count stays!

(16,927 posts)I haven't eaten sweet cereal for over 8 years. I didn't know they put marshmallows in Count Chocula. If anyone actually goes for my idea, a plus is getting to add anything you want to your mix.

(14,853 posts)... make no sense to me anymore.
I'm still ordering pick-up, and I've wondered if the employees just don't want to bother getting some of the items for whatever reasons. No sweet pickle relish the last time, and they supposedly had no substitutes available either. It's something different every order.

(10,885 posts)Today at the market:
No jumbo shells. At least 10 different brands of pasta, and not one damn box of jumbo shells.
Chinese mustard, anyone? Uh-uh. Probably 40 kinds on the shelf, but no Chinese.
Also, no Wasa bread. Been looking for it for weeks. They're offering a coupon for it, but no product, and no space on the shelf for it to be located.
Last week it was risotto and wild rice. I know rice has been sketchy during COVID, but still.
We're talking Stop & Shop - no podunk grocery in a small town. What's the likelihood there was a "run" on these particular products?
Oh, btw...toilet paper stacked high.

(14,853 posts)My grocery store is good-sized and close to the intersection of I-70 and I-75, so it's not like truck drivers would struggle to get there.
The only thing that's predictable is that something will be unfilled, and I'll never guess what it will be each time.
