killed two people, both from falling branches after the storm passed, not tornadoes, or flooding, etc.

The summer/fall windstorm comes through and weakens the branches.
A few months later, snow and/or ice coats them and the weight sends them crashing down.

It can really take a city out. Power outages, tree limbs blocking streets which are many times as slippery as glass.
