Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI dread dawn tomorrow .. Zeta.
Im on the Blue Ridge escarpment, at 3200 feet. Totally exposed to the dirty side of Zeta. It will be at its worst, here, between 6 am and 9 am.
But I have my wilderness fire lookout gear. Honda 2Kw generator, Goal Zero lithium ion power pack (1500 w-hour), multiple head-lamps and flashlights, candles, and a propane cooktop.
Ill check in tomorrow morning. I hope.

(11,453 posts)near the border with NC. They are due to get some 30+ MPH winds. I'm about 250 miles SE of that area, and we're looking at 40+ MPH with some nasty storms. Going to hit here in the 11:00 PM to 3:00 AM range.

(64,026 posts)I hope you've got everything tied down.
Maybe wake up early, make a thermos of coffee and breakfast.
I wish I knew the location of your site so I could follow it on weather radar app, etc. The What3Words app can give a location within about 6-9 feet. Best of luck to you.

(17,747 posts)you'll have to deal with about one and a half hours of the rough weather. It was a little scary for a while; the wind blew in 5 of the windows here in the hospital. I thought a few times that mine might blow in, but it held. It sounded like I was going through a car wash. They're saying on the news now that there's a lot of roof damage and a lot of power outages due to fallen trees. Some of this damage is going to take a while to repair. I hope that it loses a lot of its strength by the time it gets to you. Best of luck!
