Everything being done to turn the vote out should be this way all the time.

Civics needs to be taught in school again. It shouldn’t be a college requirement course. It should be a required course for various years in High School. That way people who don’t go to college also learn how our government works. State elections should be taught too.

We need informed and involved Americans. We’ve been so dumbed down that 40% of the populations can’t tell the difference between a President and a dictator. Or that their “freedoms” are not violated when they’re expected to wear masks in a pandemic so they don’t kill people. And just as many know George Washington only as that boy that chopped down that tree and then couldn’t lie about it.

This country needs some serious overhauling. We need to rectify the separation of government and religion. We need to hold people’s rights as sacrosanct, not something to be denied them or taken away because their beliefs or lifestyles are different.

We need to learn the American history that’s about the truth and about women’s history, Black history, Native American History, Latino History and Asian American History. The shit they teach now is all about the White man’s history only. It’s about all the wars we’ve fought and how brave and special we are. That needs to be thrown out.

Edited to add that we also need to study our immigration and Naturalization history. When they happened and why so many different groups came in large groups.

History! It’s fucking important to know!

Not sure when they stopped teaching it but it goddamned needs to be a requirement in EVERY primary school: private, public, charter.

I was taught that voting, like jury duty and being a good neighbor, was your CIVIC DUTY.

But having been taught what congress does, the branches of government, how bills are passed, and how politics likes you even if you don't like politics (LITERALLY touches every part of us and our lives), it was goddamned understood.

I don't know what the FUCK they're teaching in schools these days but they damn well need to teach civics, US government, and history.

But if you have to learn the year we went to every war and all the Acts then it’s boring as hell!

Teach it the way Ken Burns teaches it and every Student will love our history!

But that was in 1959. It should be a requirement for grade school graduation and before moving on to high school. Too many people are clueless about how government works.

That’s something Trump’s 4 years have laid bare. The price of ignorance, whether it is willful, or designed and executed by self serving Narcissistic greed of the powerful minority is all encompassing unless we do something other than just wish it away.

has anything to do with falling education standards. The age group who hate Trump the most are the young people. Most of Trump’s cult are older Americans. That’s clear from the polls and the rallies.

them to access knowledge and each other any time they want to.

But much more important is that they are watching the destruction of the planet and it means destruction of their future. They’re also under attack in their schools which is something we older people can hardly comprehend. None of us Boomers ever had to deal with getting shot and killed in school. Now they do. The result is that they’ve had to get smart very, very fast, and the way they’ve been able to do it is through the world wide virtual connection of social media.

This means they’re getting a serious education outside their schools that is far more useful than what their school curriculum is. Their choice to do something about it is why they learn about how our government works. It is their initiative, not the school’s.
