OK: let me tell you what I just heard from a police officer

here in Philadelphia. I am only going to tell you what he told me -I have no verification but it is consistent with recent facts and incidents:

As most of you know, we have had a situation developing here in Philadelphia following the fatal shooting of a mentally ill individual in West Philly by police officers. When I have driven in the past few mornings there have been police cars with uniformed officers allocated at virtually every corner in Center city. Many storefronts are boarded up, and merchants were instructed to remove their merchandise from their display windows if they were not planning to board up.

However, one officer recognized me this morning who is a patient in my office, said hello, and mentioned to me during our conversation that the real reason for the police presence was that, and it was publicized, a rental truck had been stopped with bad license plates and was found to contain a large amount of explosives. Apparently the federal government investigators are looking very closely at this, because it is believed by some that there are other individuals so situated with destructive devices.

Philly has always been considered a Target, because both The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution was written and signed here at Independence Hall, and for all the discussions over the years that New York and Washington DC are prime targets because they represent the financial and the administrative capitals of the country respectively, no one should ever forget that Philadelphia is actually the center of the origin of the creation of the nation. Are symbols here are sacrosanct: Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, The Betsy Ross house, and all the institutions have Benjamin Franklin’s name inscribed upon them.

Just one more concern added to the long list of other concerns.

murderous followers started to bring to fruition per the book "Helter Skelter" by Vincent Bugliosi, lead prosecutor in the Tate–LaBianca murder trial.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Manson

Charles Milles Manson (né Maddox, November 12, 1934 – November 19, 2017) was an American criminal and cult leader. In mid-1967, he formed what became known as the "Manson Family", a quasi-commune based in California. His followers committed a series of nine murders at four locations in July and August 1969. Although the motive for the murders was disputed by Manson, the Los Angeles County district attorney believed that Manson intended to start a race war.[3] In 1971, he was convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder for the deaths of seven people, including the film actress Sharon Tate. The prosecution contended that, while Manson never directly ordered the murders, his ideology constituted an overt act of conspiracy.[4] Manson was also convicted of first-degree murder for the deaths of Gary Hinman and Donald Shea.

Thu Oct 29, 2020, 09:09 AM
Oct 2020

This paragraph from Britannica is chilling in light of how much the domestic terrorist groups have grown since 1995 when McVeigh bombed the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. Right-wing media has exacerbated the hatred of Democrats and liberal government. Our state and federal law enforcement has allowed them to expand, and especially in some states gain the cooperation of the police. If nothing is done, eventually we will have more bombings equal to the Oklahoma City bombing. Something needs to be done about the lies of right-wing media as well as the thousands of domestic terrorists freely roaming our streets, assault weapons at the ready. They need to be labeled as the American version of ISIS and not left to recruit even more gullible young people to their ranks. We are one screwed up country right now.

“Although McVeigh and Nichols were not directly connected with any major political group, they held views characteristic of the broad Patriot movement, which feared authoritarian plots by the U.S. federal government and corporate elites. At its most extreme, the Patriot movement denied the legitimacy of the federal government and law enforcement. One manifestation of the rightist upsurge was the formation of armed militia groups, which, according to some sources, claimed a national membership of about 30,000 by the mid-1990s. The militias justified their existence by claiming a right to armed self-defense against an allegedly oppressive government. In this context, the date of the Oklahoma City attack was doubly significant, falling on two notable anniversaries. April 19 marked both Patriots’ Day, the anniversary of the American rebellion against British authority at Lexington, Massachusetts, in 1775, and the date on which federal agents brought the Waco siege to a culmination by raiding the compound of the heavily armed Branch Davidian religious sect in Waco, Texas, in 1993. McVeigh claimed that the building in Oklahoma City was targeted to avenge the more than 70 deaths at Waco. Following the Oklahoma City attack, media and law enforcement officials began intense investigations of the militia movement and other armed extremist groups.”

Nothing about a hinky plate. The stories are mostly variations on this:

https://abcnews.go.com/US/van-full-explosives-found-philadelphia-week-social-unrest/story?id=73897826

The city of Philadelphia is on high alert Thursday after authorities discovered a van filled with explosives and other suspicious cargo – including propane tanks, torches and possibly sticks of dynamite – on Wednesday night following two nights of protests and unrest after the shooting death of a Black man by police in West Philadelphia on Monday afternoon, according to ABC News’ Phildaelphia station WPVI.

It is unclear how authorities came to be aware of the vehicle containing the explosives or who the owner or operator of the vehicle is but the bomb squad is on the scene and investigating.

If it is RW crazies trying to start a civil war, I don't want the other crazies gearing up for a battle. I'd rather the FBI and police quietly take them down, and then the news media cover it.

I'm concerned how the media seems to be promoting the idea that a civil war is coming. I don't deny it's possible. But I think it is safer if we don't buy the hype that violence is inevitable.

Dropping a little tip to someone who is trusted in the community reinforces the idea that cops are working really hard on the real issues that good citizens worry about. The social media chit-chat around this van seems to be pushing that it belonged to the protestors in some way, and I'm sure your cop friend wouldn't mind if that's what people took away from your tip. Reports vary -- because uncertainty is the best propaganda -- but some reports say it was simply propane tanks and M-80s in the van. Doesn't matter -- the specter of a scary bomb van go a long way towards both-sides-ing any unrest.

The Secret Government

by Bill Moyers
Seven Locks Press, 1988

EXCERPT...

The contras: Reagan has compared them to our Founding Fathers. In reality, Ronald Reagan and CIA director William Casey were their founding fathers. Two months after his inauguration, the president approved the funds Casey used to create the contras. Their ultimate goal was the violent overthrow of the Nicaraguan government, a government the United States legally recognizes. So the war had to be carried out covertly, as a campaign of terror. But Americans were outraged when J CIA agents mined the Nicaraguan harbors and blew up fuel tanks, causing thousands of Nicaraguan citizens to flee their homes; and Congress, in protest, cut off the contra funds. Still the president refused to give up on his crusade, and his men went to work secretly to keep the war going. The question now was how to evade Congress, the law and public opinion.
First, a small cabal in the White House took charge of policy: President Reagan, CIA Director Casey, National Security Advisers McFarlane and Poindexter, and their aide, Colonel North.

To raise money for the contras, the secret team turned to rightwing governments that could do favors for the United States and receive favors in return. The king of Saudi Arabia doled out a million dollars a month; the sultan of Brunei coughed up $10 million that was misplaced through a White House error. The secret government also encouraged the fund-raising efforts of retired Gen. John Singlaub. Relieved of his command for insubordination in 1977, he now runs the World Anti-Communist League.

SNIP...

GEORGE GORMAN, former captain, U.S. Marine Corps:
I'm two years senior to Oliver North out of the Naval Academy, and the only thing he's got on me is a Silver Star and six more years in the Corps. And when Oliver North started to say the things he started to say, I literally wanted to throw things at my TV set. I seriously considered mailing my Naval Academy ring back to the Naval Academy and denying ever having gone there. I was so embarrassed and humiliated that a professional military officer would stoop to the dishonor and disgrace and warmongering that Oliver North and Poindexter and McFarlane and the rest of the crew did. Selling arms to the Iranians after they blew up the Beirut barracks, after they blew up the Beirut embassy, is the most immoral thing- that's like selling Zyklon-B to the Germans after you've found out the Holocaust is under way.

That was many moon's ago, but I had two brothers in Viet Nam, and when I sign up, the war was still raging... I still remember traveling through Philly in 1974 wondering if I would go over seas to fight (Coast Guard was used in the war as river patrols... many of them got shot up)... In the end on my training, I was stationed in northern part of the Great Lakes at two Search and Rescue stations, where I spent 5 years in service to my country... By generating the apparent crisis it would allow or even require Trump or Barr to declare Martial Law as a means of suspending the Constitution and overturning or seizing the ballot results, possibly to tip it into SCOTUS. I doubt the legal process works quite that way. But that may not prevent those who demand a dramatic conclusion to Trump's succession from fomenting it. In 2000 the Neo-Cons persuaded a far less biased Supreme Court to intervene over far less substance.

I was listening to The Joe Maddison Show (The Black Eagle) the night after the bricks were thrown and he said he saw a uhaul near the area. But, he thought it was loaded with bricks, wonder if it was this uhaul?

Explosions have hit 50 cash machines in and near Philadelphia since the weekend, and one man has died, in a coordinated effort to steal them or take the money inside, authorities said Wednesday.

A 25-year-old who's accused of selling homemade dynamite on the streets with instructions on how to use it on ATMs has been arrested, though authorities aren't yet sure whether the man is connected to the coordinated effort, the state attorney general said.

Police earlier urged businesses that host the machines to remove cash to discourage further thefts, one of which resulted in the death of a 24-year-old man hours after he tried to break into an ATM early Tuesday, authorities said.

Sounds like these folks caught yesterday were planning on liberating a little cash from some ATM's if there's civil unrest.

You have to dumb down your thinking to low life level to understand what's going on in parts of Philly.
