yes, your own vote.
how to audit your own polling place.
i posted in this thread about rat fucker rove-https://www.democraticunderground.com/100214383595
but it wasnt understood. so-
at the end of the night, part of closing is to post one of the poll tapes in a place where it can be seen by the public.
i dont know if this is the law in all 50 states, but the ones i know of, it is.
unless the tabulators themselves are hacked, this is an honest count.
most results these days are then transmitted by wifi to the board of elections.
this is where the ratfuckery happens.
if we the people made a practice of checking those poll tapes, and comparing them to the reported totals, that crap could not fly.
most local parties collect the tapes from their poll watchers. they used to do it to tally results night of, but these days they get stuffed in an envelope while folks watch the results on the teevee.
if you are a poll watcher, get a tape for yourself.
if you are a judge, get a tape for yourself.
if your local party gets tapes, check against reported totals.
but any of us can go snap a pic, or even just write down the numbers, and compare to the boe numbers.
there are audits, allegedly random, after elections to make sure that the actual ballots match the reported totals, but....
watch them this time, and they will think twice in future.

(43,049 posts)Two copies go to the BoE but we do not transmit by WiFi. Polling machine chips are delivered to secured dropoffs along with the actual scanned ballots and then on to the BoE.

(70,103 posts)can poll workers take a pic?
TreasonousBastard
(43,049 posts)votes are shown on the machine before it's shut down, and poll watchers have plenty of time to write down the totals from the tapes.

(70,103 posts)a pic makes better evidence that numbers someone wrote down.
and the total votes cast is irrelevant. it's switching votes that is the problem.

(43,049 posts)both sides didn't care about poll watchers counts or even really care much about tapes, or even the chips. It was all about the actual ballots.

(70,103 posts)the point would be to trigger said recount.
i know illinois counties do routine audits of a certain percentage of actual ballots.
i always trusted the long time clerk here, but i went out to witness in dupage county, red suburbs, and it was so hinky.
a vote here, 2 votes there. all f'ing day. but did it trigger a larger count?
oh hell no. not big enough to affect the outcome, they swore.
but nobody i knew believed they picked the precincts randomly. if they were getting all these anomalies in their hand picked precincts, how bad was it, rly?
fortunately, the blue wave of '18 swept in not only 4 new dem commissioners, but a new clerk. a loonnnnnggggg time voting transparency advocate.
it was both sides out there, btw. in the '06 primary, tammy duckworth beat christine cegelis by 102 votes. we all knew it smelled. but we didnt have the goods.
the dnc stuffed duckworth in cuz they didnt like cegelis' fundraising numbers. she went from everyone's darling to yesterday's bread in 2 yrs.
if we had had this kind of evidence, we would have fought it.

(42,331 posts)I did 2 poll watching shifts this week - in the morning, I took a photo of the tallies before voting commenced. In the afternoon, I took a photo of the tallies when voting had closed for the day.
Send them to the legal team working with us.

(19,066 posts)Their USPS BS and the talk of not accepting late ballots has driven an explosion in voter turnout.
I know that they will try to stop the counting, but know that their actions before it even gets to that point have driven millions of more votes getting cast and counted.
Their actions drove maybe 10 million more votes being cast, even if a million of those get thrown out, that's still a net of 9.
I really didn't appreciate the media focusing on ballot errors for mail in ballots, it misses the whole point entirely. Mail in ballots are more likely to be thrown out, yes, but the net result is still more votes getting counted. You're expanding the voting with mail on by a lot.
And yes I meant to shout..
