https://www.rawstory.com/2020/10/jerry-falwell-jr-sues-liberty-university-for-damage-to-his-reputation-report/Former Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. is suing the evangelical college for forcing him to resign in the wake of a stream of scandals, NBC News reports.
We attempted to meet several times with the Liberty University Board of Trustees Executive Committee but were unsuccessful in doing so. Thus, we were forced to seek remedy for Mr. Falwells ongoing injuries and damage to his reputation through the Court, Falwells lawyer Robert Raskopf said in a statement.
Hard to know who to root for here - not Jerry certainly but can't root for Liberty either. A pox on both their houses!

Then let's get to discovery, shall we?
Falwell's hoping for a quiet settlement. He knows he's been kicked off the gravy train. He wants one more bite of the apple.

Falwell, who declined comment in response to questions from The Associated Press last month about the terms of his employment contract and exit package, has previously discussed the matter with other news organizations that reported he would receive $10.5 million. He could not immediately be reached for comment Tuesday.
Falwells reportable compensation from Liberty was $1,099,356, according to a 2018 tax form the school provided AP. Other compensation was listed as $59,655.
Liberty's statement also said there was no severance or retirement negotiated in exchange for Falwell's resignation last month.

I mean, if I could get 2 years' inflated salary when I was caught breaking the fundamental moral rules of my employer, which is in a business about teaching fundamental moral rules as they see them, I'd be literally laughing all the way to the bank.
This is something I don't understand. We normal mortals have employment contracts that say if we decide to leave, or break the terms of the contract, we may have to work out a notice period, or they may pay us for that if they'd prefer we get the fuck out now. A month or two. Maybe get pay for vacation time owed. At what point do you get to have a contract promising you another 2 years' pay (at, typically, a vast rate anyway) for when you fuck up?
