Sports journalist Taylor Rooks on hypocrisy of Trump supporters praising Nicklaus endorsement

With the Jack Nicklaus/Jay Cutler endorsements -just want to point out other Trump supporters are praising them. Meaning they actually do love when athletes have political opinions! They just dont like when it’s different from theirs. Why don’t those two have to shut up and play?

She's from my alma mater University of Illinois covered the Illini, niece of Lou Brock... she's amazing and has a big future.

There is never any consistency with them, only what serves them in the moment. I don't really put any additional weight behind what celebrities or athletes say unless they show some expertise in the matter they are discussion. People like LeBron James who has personal experience with racial injustice and who become activists like Colin Kapernick and consult with experts on protest and other issues typically have intelligent things to say. Others simply think that because they have a measure of fame, that there opinion deserves to be heard.

That said, I have yet to see a conservative celebrity who makes an intelligent defense of their ideology and policies.
