Unreturned Mail-in Ballots
Hi there- What do you make of the 39 million unreturned ballots. In my mind, that is a big deal. Am I looking at this incorrectly?

2. Yeah it is a lot.
One good thing is that number has been falling about 3M to 4M per day. So by the time polls close on election night it should be 15M to 20M lower.
Still a lot of ballots. I really hope there aren't 20M clueless people waiting till election night to mail it in. |

10. This seems reassuring.
A lot of ballots could be turned in by Tuesday. Maybe some people decided to vote in person, or drop their ballots off in person.
CBS reported that we have 1.5 million unreturned ballots in Arizona. But we have great ballot tracking, so I hope people are using that. It's so simple, and when you see that "Ballot Accepted" it's a huge relief. |

4. It is concerning. Think some will vote in-person, some areas are behind accepting or reporting them.
According to some DUers, the Party knows the names of those who haven't voted yet. I'm skeptical of that, but if it's true -- I hope to hell someone is calling the ballot requesters up and asking what gives and how they can help?

9. I know it's true in VA.
My county took a week to log in my ballot after I dropped it off at their central (only) office. In that time, the Dems sent me a reminder that I should return it.

12. In many states, if you request an absentee ballot,
You cannot switch to voting in person.

13. Hope local Democrats are telling procrastinators they need to get them in by drop box.

14. In Cleveland, they are focused on correcting errors in ballots already dropped off.
There were several thousand rejected for technical errors (like no signature). They are sending people around to try to get them to correc the errors.

5. Most of it is California and those states that
strictly vote by mail. A truck full of ballots was delivered in Broward County in Florida this morning. MSNBC showed the post office dropping them off.

7. It is probably more this year, because ballots were mailed to all registered voter in some states
There are lots more people who are eligible to vote than are registered. There are lots more registered to vote than actually vote.

11. In Georgia, a voter could request a mail in ballot, no excuse needed.

15. I trained to be an election inspector and was told to apply for a special ballot "just in case."
I received my special ballot at the beginning of the month. No need to complete and mail it in as I always intended to vote early in person which I did yesterday.
