New Ohio poll shows Democrat Joe Biden with edge over President Donald Trump
WASHINGTON, D. C. - A poll released less than a week before election day shows former Vice President Joe Biden with a five percent edge over President Donald Trump in Ohio and a seven percent lead in neighboring Pennsylvania.
The Quinnipiac University poll of voters in four potential swing states that was released on Thursday found the Democratic presidential nominee with a three percent lead over Republican Trump in Florida, and Trump leading Biden in Iowa by one percent: a level within its margin of error. Trump won all four states in 2016, and Democrat Barack Obama prevailed there in the previous two contests.
In Ohio, 48% of the 1,186 likely voters that were surveyed between October 23 and October 27 said they back Biden, and 43% said they support Trump. The polls margin of error was 2.9%. A poll the university released on October 14 showed a tighter race in the state, with Biden getting 48% and Trump getting 47%.
A race thats been virtually tied now looks to be tilting toward Joe Biden," said a statement from Quinnipiac University Polling Analyst Mary Snow. The question is whether he can hold onto that slight lead in a state where President Trump won comfortably in 2016.
