(50,280 posts)I just made a batch of buttermilk biscuits yesterday and my grandson made banana bread. We are baking a lot, just as we did when Covid appeared. Baking is comfort all by itself if I think about it.

(46,036 posts)Homemade pie crust. Getting the crust right is always a victory.
Today, my Instacart shopper couldn't find Crisco at the store. The hoarding has started. Sigh. I prefer lard, but that wasn't an option on Instacart. I may make my next crust with all butter.

(50,280 posts)I am not one, I can make successful pies but my quiches just don't turn out as well for some reason so I have to buy them, sadly.

(46,036 posts)with lots of butter are the best comfort food. I swear, there's a tranquilizer in there.
On edit: Try adding a bit of cauliflower to the cut up potatoes before boiling. The extra flavor is amazing.
Plus: my favorite comfort meal is mashed potatoes and a huge mound of my homegrown green beans, also with lots of butter. I don't need anything else to make a meal, but both piles must be large.

(32,626 posts)I'm going to bake some bread tomorrow. The kneading is therapeutic, the smell is heaven, and the eating part isn't bad either. I can really slam down that dough, pretending it's whoever is pissing me off.
