(738 posts)Now that's the desk of a person hard at work. Every photo of trump's desk shows it empty; not even a laptop or phone.

(19,201 posts)As a matter of fact, I don't think he knows how to use a computer. People have remarked that in his Trump Tower office, where he controlled the huge Trump Empire ( ) there was never anything on his desk there, either. No computer, not even an office phone. He used his cellphone for everything. With the exception of Twitter, I believe he's totally tech ignorant.

(57,439 posts)Fri Jan 12, 2018: He has the same phone I do, at least in the Oval Office.
It's a Cisco CP-8811, or a model awfully close to it.
The phone uses VoIP technology. The phone it replaced in my cubicle plugged into a phone jack, but this one is connected to my laptop computer. It generates so much trash that I'm lucky to get WTOP (an FM station, at 103.5 MHz) in my cubicle. The RF trash this thing generates is off the wall. I don't the FCC has cared about AM or shortwave interference in a long, long time.
The phone was probably chosen for the Oval Office on the grounds that it would render useless any Russian-placed listening device.
Hint: "mute" is the button in the lower right hand corner.

(54,372 posts)Pierre Salinger, JFK's press secretary, lived right near our house in Virginia, and for my 11th birthday, my dad got Salinger to get JFK to make this out to me. I'm sure I was far from the only one, but this one was made out to me, so it sure was special to me. I still keep it in the original frame it came in back in March, 1963.

(10,885 posts)you will maximize ALL the time you have left, which I trust will be plenty.

(54,372 posts)Both my parents and ALL their siblings had cancer, most died from it (one didn't get the chance).
Of my grandparents, 2 never even made it to 70, and one made it to 80, but was out of it with Alzheimer's for the last 5 years. Neither of my parents made it to 80.
I have MAYBE a 1 in 4 chance of being alive 12 years from now.
So, you're right about one thing: I intend to try to maximize the time I have left. There's ALWAYS time to become a statistic.
