Sean Connery: James Bond actor dies aged 90
https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-54761824
Sir Sean Connery has died at the age of 90, his family has said.
The Scottish actor was best known for his portrayal of James Bond, being the first to bring the role to the big screen and appearing in seven of the spy thrillers.
Sir Sean died peacefully in his sleep, while in the Bahamas, having been "unwell for some time", his son said.
His acting career spanned decades and he won an Oscar in 1988 for his role as an Irish cop in The Untouchables.
Sir Sean's other films included The Hunt for Red October, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and The Rock.

(26,259 posts)He seemed so fragile and confused during the last few public sightings. Once he disappeared from public view, I knew the news I was dreading was coming.
I've been such a huge fan of this man's talents. 'The Wind and the Lion', 'The Man Who Would Be King', 'Robin and Marion' are, among other of his films, on my list of films I watch every time I get a chance. While my brother worked at 20th Century Fox studio, he managed to get an autographed photo of him, for me. I'll treasure it even more, now.
Good Speed, Sir Sean.

(33,120 posts)Sean Connery was the first actor I can remember seeing in an actual theater.
The film was "Darby O'Gill and the Little People". My folks had to take a metal bread container they used as a tool box in their jeep for me to sit on to be high enough to see the movie.
So, to everyone else he was James Bond, but, to me he was Michael McBride.
This is awful. Two of my immortals, Diana Rigg and Sean Connery passing on in such short order.
Ah, well... Thanks for everything Sean Connery.

"'I don't believe that any level of abuse of women is ever justified under any circumstances' Connery speaks for the first time after cancelling his high-profile appearance at Holyrood's Festival of Politics By Paul Hutcheon". HeraldScotland
Which wasn't in the pulp piece at the WP which was published seven years later and failed to mention his contrition and public apology.
