and that was before early voting began..yesterday.
My early voting polling location which had previously been staffed by primarily senior citizens (and those like me who see it in the near future), was staffed entirely by young people (hubby voted yesterday and gave me a report).
The county board of elections also stated if you voted by mail and they receive the ballot by today, they will be able to include your vote in the early returns immediately after the polls close. (They can't count the ballots until election day...but they can verify signatures, open envelopes, and get it ready to count before election day

(33,643 posts)Our family lived just above the Orinda Country Club at that time. I absolutely that area. Damn near every time I go home I take a driving tour around Lafayette/Orinda. I was baptized at St. Stephens church, and my grandparents markers are at that church. My grandfather made many of the Stained Glass windows there too.

(11,365 posts)The vote tallying process actually begins before election night, with the vote-by-mail ballots. Counties may begin processing vote-by-mail seven (7) business days before the election. Having verified the signatures on the return envelopes, elections officials remove the voted ballots and process them through their vote tallying system. Under no circumstances may they tabulate the results until after the close of polls on election day. Most counties continue this processing until they begin their election-day preparations for counting the precinct votes. Mail ballots not counted by that time and all those received on election day, either through the mail or at the precincts, are tabulated during the official canvass of the vote.
