(43,303 posts)Much of what gets tweeted that's political can, and when usable, is transferred by certain human accounts to bots for spreading. Maybe Twitter's trying to mitigate what raises the heat in their environment.
I'm not defending censorship, just saying that a private platform has more to gain right now by keeping the heat down than opening wide for freedom of political expression. Platform moderation, if run by humans or AI, can reveal judgment problems in a country this big.
Just sayin'. You've got my sympathies.

(43,303 posts)their saying is, "nothing personal, just business."
As if corporate AI exists to shut down the body politic, which I think it's going to do if/when Big Corp completely takes over this govt of, by and for the "consent" of The People.
There's so damn much a Biden administration is gonna have to solve, and social media AI isn't likely at the top of the list.
Along these lines, I'd love for Andrew Yang to be appointed the head of The Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), a department of the United States government, part of the Executive Office of the President (EOP), established by United States Congress on May 11, 1976, with a broad mandate to advise the President on the effects of science and technology. Some Greek (I don't even know if he's a nationalised citizen) Michael Kratsios, Republican and Peter Thiel's former chief of staff, currently leads the administration's efforts on Artificial Intelligence. In his tenure the U.S. joined the Global Partnership on AI. He's also hooked up with the Pentagon. All this is per Wikipedia.
We social media users are a blip on their radar, even if we're still affected.

(1,654 posts)I wasn't suspended but I got a note from Facebook that a post of mine was hidden (I assume that's what it means when you get a notice nobody can see your post notice) when I posted on my daughter's timeline comparing Trump to King George in Hamilton where he sings about love me or I'll kill your families, etc. This was after his balcony act after returning from Walter Reed. I appealed it, but they or the algorithm upheld their decision saying it may promote violence or some such thing. (The violence was on Trump's and his followers' part, not mine.) And the snowflakes claim the social media is unfair to them.

(53,061 posts)Twitter has a sensible apprehension about mixing "death" "murder" etc into political posts.
They will apply it equally to militia members who post "vote democratic and you lose your guns and will get killed"

There is also the MAGAbomber who sent threats to people for political reasons and Twitter didn't take them serious even though later he sent bombs to real people.

Jack Dorsey Maxed Out His Donation to Tulsi Gabbard After the First Debate
The first night of the June Democratic debates gave some of the lower-polling candidates the chance to break out on the national stageand apparently, one of them made quite the impression on Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. A FEC filing first reported Tuesday by Buzzfeed News revealed that Dorsey made a contribution of $5,600the maximum amount legally allowedto Rep. Tulsi Gabbard the day after the first debate. The Twitter CEO has also donated to candidate Andrew Yang, donating $1,000 on April 30. (We don't comment on Jack's personal giving, a Twitter spokesperson told Buzzfeed.)
The donations offer a rare glimpse of Dorsey's political leanings, which have remained somewhat inscrutable amid criticism from the left for going easy on President Donald Trump and from the right for supposedly silencing conservatives. (The CEO has admitted Twitter's biases are more left-leaning and has donated to Democrats in the past.) But given the candidates he's supporting, it's still hard to glean where exactly Dorseys political views lie. Of all the Democratic candidates, Gabbard's candidacy has proved perhaps the most ideologically conflicted, even mysterious. The Democratic congresswoman, who supported Sen. Bernie Sanders in 2016, has come under fire for her past anti-gay views and meeting with Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad, and her anti-interventionist views on foreign policy play well on the right as well as the left. Beyond Dorsey, many of Gabbard's other post-debate fans seem to have been conservatives; the candidate won the Drudge Report's post-debate poll, garnered news coverage from Breitbart News, and even had Ann Coulter saying, Go, Tulsi! I think a lot of people would vote for her over Trump, right-wing personality Mike Cernovich told Buzzfeed News after the debate. MAGA people.
Dorsey's support of Yang would seem more straightforward. Yang, a former tech entrepreneur, has a policy agenda driven by technology that's tailor-made for Silicon Valley; the universal basic income plan at the center of his campaign is specifically designed to help Americans adjust to a changing economy that's increasingly disrupted by AI and automation. (Yang has also not been without his share of conservative admirersI actually think Andrew Yang probably has more appeal in some corners of the right than Tulsi, Republican strategist and Donald Trump Jr. adviser Andy Surabian told Buzzfeedthough Yang, like Gabbard, has a policy platform that includes progressive causes like Medicare for All.) Its also understandable why he'd put his money toward Yang over frontrunners like Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who's made breaking up Big Tech a central part of her platform.
While Gabbard has yet to weigh in on getting a financial endorsement from one of Silicon Valley's biggest players, Yang is clearly happy about making it on Dorsey's radar. Thank you @jack for the support! Yang tweeted in April. I use at least one of your products every day.

(10,484 posts)for a retweet that was clearly satirizing a RWer saying someone should kill themselves. I appealed it Instead of deleting it and explained why.
I think they're dragging out the appeal process because in addition to explaining how it was clearly satire and was in no way "promoting suicide," I also said it was BS since they let Trump get away with breaking the rules constantly.
