Natasha Bertrand @NatashaBertrand 14mNew: As Giuliani dug for dirt on Biden, waged shadow diplomatic campaigns in Venezuela and Turkey, and spoke regularly to Trump about all of it, a 19-year-old law student was quietly watching and soaking it all inand hes now written a new tell-all: https://www.politico.com/news/2020/11/01/lev-parnas-son-trump-tell-all-433790

The saga of Lev Parnas, a close former Giuliani associate and fixer, is familiar by now: Parnas helped Giuliani investigate Joe Biden and his son Hunters dealings in Ukraine, an endeavor that ultimately led to the presidents impeachment.
Unknown until this week, however, was that Parnas son Aaron was present for much of it. And he has now written an eyewitness account of many of the backchannel dealings conducted by Giuliani and a small group of his confidants to help their clients chief among them the president of the United States.
I had no intention of writing this book before a few weeks ago, the younger Parnas, who recently graduated from George Washington University Law School in D.C., said in an interview. But after I finished the bar exam, I began thinking about how young Republicans and young people in general often feel like they don't have a place in the political system and might not want to vote. So I thought if they were able to see what I saw maybe it would help them make a decision.
The 153-page memoir, titled TRUMP FIRST: How the President and his associates turned their backs on me and my family, traces Parnas journey from an enthusiastic Trump supporter in 2016 he even volunteered for the campaign in Florida to an eager Biden voter in 2020.

(2,594 posts)He not only graduated from law school, he managed to get his bar license. What isn't clear is whether he is still nineteen or was that age in 2019, which is the timeframe that he writes about in his memoir. He may be over 20 or 21 by now. Still -- he's awfully young. Quite an accomplishment.

(34,059 posts)But, at best, it would be true on a state by state basis, since each state makes their own rules. I am not specifically aware of any jurisdiction with such rule - and bar admission is a large part of my job.

(7,510 posts)The minimum age to take the bar is 21, he said. So I have to wait three years anyway.

It didn't say what jurisdiction he was targeting. Couldn't find much on line about minimum age to take the exam, but Texas has an 18 age limit for licensing.
There is an old article from 1988 about a 21 year limit in New York, but I couldn't find a current article. https://www.nytimes.com/1988/08/20/nyregion/lawyer-19-must-wait-for-the-bar.html

(34,059 posts)Since contracts entered into by minors are voidable, unless for necessities. It would be challenging to practice law without entering into contracts, and allowing one who can't be bound by that contract to enter a profession that largely requires contracts would not be in the best interests of the public.
Pretty sure none of my students are under 21, so it isn't something that would come up much. But rules vary considerably from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, so it certainly isn't true across the board.

(34,059 posts)Because of COVID 19, most results aren't known yet. It doesn't say which bar exam he took, but many took the bar exam on October 3& 4, which would fit with the description of "a few weeks ago."

(85,986 posts)By his own account, Aaron Parnas was just a normal high schooler. He got his work done. He did what he needed to do to graduate and he had a life like any other high school kid.
Except for the fact that when he graduated from Florida Atlantic University High School, he did so with a 5.4 weighted GPA.
So, at the age of 18, Parnas is headed to law school at George Washington University this fall. The plan is to finish his studies in three years and then, at age 21, take the bar exam and head into corporate law, mergers and acquisitions.
Listening to Parnas talk about his plans, it almost seems like they are already completed. But thats the confidence that comes with a person who, as a senior in high school, wrote an honors senior thesis examining the way capital punishment influences homicide rates in various countries around the world. That thesis allowed him to be one of 10 FAU graduates this year to receive a special honors distinction on their bachelors degree.
You get the feeling that if he could get his law degree in one year instead of three, he would do that. It turns out the one thing that can slow Parnas down is the law.

(1,668 posts)Couldnt see what trump was. We havent seen anything we didnt know in 2016, everything hes done was entirely predictable. Im glad theyve come to their senses, but lets be blunt, needing to be hit upside the head with a 2x4 should not be required to convince one that pain is painful.
Pro tip dont employ a firm a legal firm that has a Parnas, and check the JD, GW is sounding more and more like a diploma mill.

They want to feel like famous people like them and when they do as Trump did with turning on them or denying they knew them they feel bad.
The same with that woman that wrote the Melania and me book.

(2,065 posts)Aaron Parnas seems like a really intelligent and promising young lawyer, a guy who will really go far, and - who knows? - may even become president someday. Our country needs more young people like him, who are willing to speak the truth in an age of lies and disinformation campaigns.
I am eagerly looking forward to his book when it comes out. This will definitely be a unique and valuable addition to the "second Trump Tower" of tell all books, which may now be rivaling the original Trump Tower in its height and stature.
